Meet The Dentist
Dr. Richard P. Herman, DDS

Dr. Herman is a graduate of Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery and City College of New York. He is active in organized dentistry and is a past president of his local dental society, as well as the past Chair of New York State Dental Association's Council on Dental Benefits. He has just completed a four year term as a member of the American Dental Association's Council on Dental Benefit Programs. While Dr. Herman has authored several articles on dentistry and is a lecturer, he is also a hands-on, experienced dentist who has been practicing family and cosmetic dentistry since 1974.

On a personal note, Dr. Herman and his partner Jori enjoy their extended family. Dr. Herman has three children, his son Matt and his wife Lorri, Alli, and Russell, and three step-children Keith, Taryn and Mark. In his spare time he stays active through bicycling and hiking, and keeps his mind sharp through reading.

'When I was young I needed a lot of dental treatment. What helps make me a great dentist is that I have never forgotten what it is like to be on the other end of the hand-piece or receiving anesthesia. I have great empathy for my patients and take great care to make them comfortable as we bring them to dental health. Each week I set aside time to provide dentistry to children and adults with mental and physical handicaps. These folks graphically display their emotions with hugs and smiles when their visit is over. It is this same sense of being hugged by our patients which makes me love doing what I do.' -Dr. Richard P. Herman, D.D.S.
